Message of Jyotindra Jain (Sr. Director of Craft Museum) Craft Museum, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. when I met Mahaveer Swami first time in 1986 was struck by the fact that he had evolved and individualistic style our of the combined heritage of Rajput & Mughal idioms. He was not a copyist but an artist with originality of style and vision. He works from inner faith and possion. He has long depoasted from repectitive subjects of Rajput and Mughal schools and has evolved a range of new subjects derived from everyday life. 'Delicate' & 'Feelingful' are two keywords to discribe his work. His Sufi partraits are remarkable for their characterisation of saints. I wis Mahaveer Swami a great success on a path that he has opened for himself. |
